Experience Granada

Author Ernest Hemingway once said, "If you were to visit only one city in Spain, this should be Granada." This fairytale city is known for its historic, artistic, and cultural heritage. Granada's notable attractions include the Alhambra Palace, the gardens at the Palacio del Generalife, and the Arab neighborhood of Albayzín, all declared World Heritage sites by UNESCO. Enjoy the relaxed lifestyle of this small, urban area and an economy more focused on its universities and students than tourists -- in other words, the ideal setting in which to hone your Spanish language skills.

Granada has long been known for its proud tradition of tolerance among cultures, with strong Arabic, Jewish, and Romani historical influences. Today, the revived multicultural society of al-Andalus serves as a model for living together in mutual respect, set in a youthful university atmosphere. The city offers countless cultural events, a vibrant night life, sophisticated shopping areas, and traditional markets. Granada is strategically located at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains less than an hour from the Mediterranean coast, making it easy to take a break from your studies and escape to the multitude of recreational and cultural attractions that surround the area.
