CEA Seville, Spain - Arts & Sciences
(Outgoing Program)
CEA Seville Center & Pablo de Olavide University or University of Seville
This program allows students of all language levels to focus on cultural competency while taking courses taught in English or Spanish in a variety of subject areas, including art history, cultural studies, business, laboratory sciences , and political and social sciences. This program, offered jointly by the CEA Seville Center and one of our partner institutions--the Pablo de Olavide University, UPO or University of Sevilla (USS)--is designed so that each institution's courses complement one another, and students benefit from the unique qualities and distinct learning environments of each school. Because of the diverse course offerings and instruction in both Spanish and English, you can earn credits toward your major and/or additional graduation requirements.
With a population of less than 1 million, Seville offers a down-to-earth lifestyle and relaxed cultural experience. Located in southern Spain, Seville is considered the guardian of all that is traditional in Spanish culture. Seville boasts a pedestrian-friendly,a centralized historic
district that's, among the largest in Europe. Renowned as the birthplace of flamenco, Seville also is home to stunning architecture, including the Alcazar palaces and the world's largest Gothic cathedral, La Giralda.
Engage in true Seville culture through a myriad of traditional Spanish activities, including bullfighting, flamenco dance, and festivals, such as Semana Santa and Feria de Abril. Terrace cafés where people meet to enjoy their afternoon café con leche line the streets; you can join them to practice your Spanish. Sunbathe by the river banks, then relax at a local tapas bar where you'll enjoy good food and conversation after a day spent strolling through the shaded, winding alleyways of the Barrio Santa Cruz, the old Jewish quarter.
