Program Highlights

City: Annually atop the list of the world's happiest places, Copenhagen is graced with many historical, well-preserved buildings, old winding streets, open squares, and an array of towers, castles, and parks. Popular attractions in Copenhagen include the Tivoli Gardens, the Little Mermaid Statue, Rosenborg Castle, and many more.

University: Located in the heart of Copenhagen, the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS) is a non-profit institution affiliated with the University of Copenhagen. DIS offers coursework in English to approximately 1,000 international students each year.

Academics: Earn Major, Minor, and General Education credit.

Tuition: Same tuition cost as home CSU campus.

Language of Instruction: English

Special Notes: Must be an architecture major from Cal Poly SLO or Cal Poly Pomona. Students are responsible for verifying that they meet individual course prerequisites prior to registration with the overseas institution. Please contact your IP coordinator for details.

About the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS)

Located in the heart of Copenhagen, DIS offers coursework in English to approximately 1,000 international students each year. The DIS Architecture & Design program includes studio, lecture, and seminar courses on Scandinavian and Danish architecture. The program also provides faculty-curated study tours to western Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Germany, and Switzerland. The faculty are practicing Danish architects and designers, as well as faculty at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture and Denmark’s Design School.

Students also choose elective courses from a wide variety of subjects including sustainability, urban studies, humanities, politics, etc. CSU students are required to study the Danish language both fall and spring semesters.
